May 5, 2020 - Student Email

The recently enacted Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was passed by Congress and signed into law, provides funding to colleges and universities through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). The HEERF program allows institutions to provide emergency financial grants to students for specific expenses related to cost of attendance, that were a direct result of the disruption of campus operations due to the national COVID-19 pandemic.

Under U.S. Department of Education rules for the program, to be eligible to receive these funds students must have been classified as an undergraduate or graduate student and enrolled in a degree-seeking program as of March 13, 2020. Students also must be eligible to receive Title IV funds, as demonstrated by a completed FAFSA for academic year 2019/2020, and must not have been exclusively taking online courses prior to the campus disruption date.

Eligible students may apply online beginning today, with a priority application deadline of May 18, 2020. Applications will be reviewed in the order with which they are received. Funds are limited, so to ensure consideration we recommend completing the application as soon as possible.

Applications are available in your PAWS account. To apply:

  • Click here to log in to your student single sign on
  • Select PAWS from the directory
